Kataka: The Orissa High Court has summoned Kataka Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde to appear in person over alleged non-compliance with its order regarding the formation of the city Traffic Management Committee.
While hearing a public interest litigation concerning various civic issues in Kataka city, the High Court expressed displeasure over the issue.
The HC directed the district Collector to appear before it at 10.30 am on Saturday and explain as to why the committee was constituted without adhering to the court’s earlier order.
Notably, the court had earlier directed that an officer of the rank of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) be included in the Traffic Management Committee. The panel was to be constituted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to ensure effective traffic management in the city.
However, the High Court noted the committee constituted by the district administration failed to include an ADM-rank officer as directed.
Voicing strong displeasure over the alleged non-compliance, the court directed the Kataka Collector to appear personally and furnish an explanation.
