Cuttack: The proposed bus terminus at Khannagar in the city has faced a major road block as Orissa High Court (HC) on Tuesday issued a stay on its construction.
The High Court ruled that any kind of demolition and construction work cannot be carried out at the site as a part of the land identified for the project belongs to a Goddess Kali temple. The court gave the ruling after hearing a petition filed in this regard.
It may be noted that the state government had decided to construct the bus terminus of international standard named after at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose the site considering the congestion and pollution caused by the present terminus at Badambadi. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid foundation stone for the terminus on January 23, the date of birth anniversary of Netaji.
