Mumbai: The much-anticipated gangster romance ‘O’Romeo’, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, hit theatres on Friday, and is already receiving positive reactions from fans and members of the film fraternity.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film inspired by a chapter from Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi, narrates a turbulent love story marked by obsession, heartbreak and violence.

Ahead of its theatrical release, a special screening of ‘O’ Romeo’ was held for industry insiders.

Sharing his appreciation, filmmaker Homi Adajania, who is collaborating with Shahid in ‘Cocktail 2’, wrote: “Love and gore galore! Vishal Bhardwaj, your storytelling. Shahid Kapoor, so good brotherman. Triptii Dimri, you are so w

atchable. Crew and cast of O’Romeo (applause).”

Shahid’s wife Mira Rajput also penned an enthusiastic note on Instagram. Calling Bhardwaj a “genius of finesse,” she praised the film’s background score and lauded Triptii for portraying her character with “ferocity and innocence.”

She also complimented Nana Patekar’s performance and described Tamannaah Bhatia as “ethereal.”

In a heartfelt message for her husband, Mira wrote, “Shahid Kapoor, my Romeo, your best yet. Not a beat that missed.” She shared candid photographs and urged the audience to watch the film in theatres.

Prior to release, Bhardwaj shared an emotional note reflecting on the film’s intense themes of love, rage and revenge.

Describing the project as deeply personal and cathartic, the filmmaker said that at 60, he is only beginning to understand his recurring exploration of vengeance in storytelling.

He termed his team the “real heroes” and expressed pride in the film regardless of box office outcomes or critical verdicts.

Besides Shahid and Triptii, the ensemble cast includes Vikrant Massey, Nana Patekar and Tamannaah Bhatia.
