11 Injured In Bus Accident In Balasore

Balasore: At least 11 passengers travelling in an Odisha State Regional Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus were injured on Wednesday as the vehicle fell off a bridge after colliding with a concrete wall of the bridge on National Highway-16 under Sahadevkhunta police limits of Balasore district. The accident took place when the bus driver was overtaking another vehicle at around 5 am.

The bus, travelling to Kolkata from Puri, hadmore than 60 passengers on board.  The injured were admitted to the district headquarter hospital. Of them, six persons left after preliminary treatment while five others were hospitalised/ Their condition is stable, said Balasore sub-collector Bhabatarana Sahu.   

Both the driver and the helper fled following the mishap. The other passengers left for their destinations by train with help of the district administration, informed inspector-in-charge of Sahadevkhunta police station Paresh Kumar Rout.
