Bhubaneswar: A three-day strike called by All Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) Staff Association on Monday left scores of commuters stranded in several parts of the state.
A large number of people were seen queued up waiting for private buses at different bus depots owing to unavailability of government-run buses.
Extending their support to the protest, the members Badambadi Government Bus Stand Association staged a dharna on the bus stand premises in Cuttack to press for their demands.
Similarly, Koraput District OSRTC Staff Association also stopped plying of government buses on various routes in Koraput and Malkangiri districts.
“The association had a meeting with Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu and Joint Labour Commissioner Upendra Kumar Mohanty on Saturday and apprised them of our five-point charter of demands including job regularisation of contractual employees and equal pay for equal work. But, they did not take any step to fulfil the demands raised by the association”, a member of All Odisha State Road Transport Corporation Staff Association said.
