Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) will resume bus operations on 66 routes across Odisha from Monday.
In a press statement, Arun Bothra, CMD, OSRTC said, “We are resuming regular service with 96 buses connecting 22 towns in the state. We will keep adding more buses and routes over a period of time.”
He said as per the policy and direction of the state government, the OSRTC has been helping guest workers. “Till last week, out of 440 buses operated by OSRTC, 70 per cent were deployed to facilitate transportation of guest workers,” he said.
Since this work load is reducing and there is demand for regular bus services from several districts, the OSRTC will resume its regular operations with certain restrictions, said Bothra.
No standing passenger will be allowed and wearing mask is compulsory for all the commuters, he said. “In larger public interest, we are asking people not to travel unless it is necessary and maintain social distancing,” said Bothra.
The towns and cities where the buses will ply are Cuttack, Angul, Keonjhar, Malatipatapur (Puri), Berhampur, Bhanjanagar, Phulbani, Jeypore, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Paralakhemundi, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Rourkela, Padampur, Nuapara, Balangir, Bhawanipatna, Bhubaneswar, Sundargarh and Deogarh.
