Ostracising COVID-19 Patients, Foreigners Will Not Be Tolerated, Says Bagchi

Bhubaneswar: Chief Spokesperson COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi has said that the Odisha Government will not tolerate ostracisation of family members of COVID-19 suspects kept in isolation.

He said this in the light of two instances in the state wherein the family members of a COVID-19 suspect kept in isolation were not being allowed to enter their village and homes and in another incident some local misbehave with foreign tourists.

He said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken a serious note of these anti-social and inhuman acts.

Thechief spokesperson was of the view that society and the conscience of the individual are of foremost importance than of government action.

“While the entire world is in the grip of the epidemic, we should not just think of our selfish interests but that lakhs of Odias are residing outside the state and the country as well. If we insult, misbehave or terrorize people of other states and countries staying here what will happen to our people who are staying outside the state?” asked Bagchi.
