Bhubaneswar: Odia TV channel OTV has termed the arrest of its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Manoranjan Sarangi on Sunday as a sign of the state government’s vendetta against the channel.
In a media release, Operating Officer of Odisha Television Limited (OTV) Litisha Mangat said, “It is a sign of state government’s vendetta against OTV, considering that our platform has been persistent and fearless in reporting fact-based news, much to their displeasure.”
She further said, “The previous manifestation (s) of their rage were the 13 odd false cases filed against OTV over the past two months. Some of these cases were granted relief by the court.”
In the backdrop of the vengeful targeting of the media organisation by the Odisha government, Sunday’s brutal action against OTV’s senior official did not come as a surprise, Mangat said.
Earlier, Sarangi was arrested hours after he was picked up by the Crime Branch from his residence. Economic Offence Wing (EOW) informed that he had been arrested and forwarded to the court in connection with the alleged fraudulent land transactions at Sarua village in Khurda district.
