Athagarh: An ailing wild elephant has been undergoing treatment at Balikiari forest under Narasinghpur range in Athagarh division since the last four to five days.
A team of forest department officials in association with OUAT and experts of Nandankanan cured the wild elephant, which was not able walk and eat properly.
According to sources, the Forest Department began rescue operation on being informed about the condition of the elephant. It was administered a mild tranquilizer, following which a team of doctors treated it for about two hours.
The wild elephant aged about 50 had entered Narasighpur area from Dhenkanal. Its condition is stated to be stable now, the sources added.
