Balasore: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch seized over 1 kg brown sugar and arrested one person from an area under Soro police limits on Thursday.
On a tip-off, a team of Bhubaneswar STF raided a place in front of Hotel Leo International along NH-16 and and seized the contraband weighing 1.1 kg which is estimated to be around Rs 1 crore.
The arrested man has been identified as Babu alias Kalim of Kajimahala in Soro. He is being interrogated and a case under Sections 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 has been registered.
Since 2020, STF in the special drive against narcotic drugs has seized more than 48 kg brown sugar/heroin and more than 89 quintals of Ganja. More than 122 drug dealers and peddlers have been arrested.
