Over 10 BJP Mahila Morcha Activists Arrested For Bid To Enter Naveen Niwas

Bhubanwswar: More than 10 BJP Mahila Morcha activists were arrested by police on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to barge into Naveen Niwas here.

Hundreds of women activists of the saffron party took out a rally from the party office and were intercepted by police near Raj Mahal Square while attempting to move towards Naveen Niwas to meet the Chief Minister and question him over the derogatory remarks of agricultural minister Pradeep Maharathy against women.

Meanwhile, another group of activists somehow reached near Naveen Niwas and staged a demonstration in front of it. Later, they clashed with police when stopped from resorting to protest.

Following this, the cops arrested several party workers.

The party members were protesting against the alleged objectionable remarks against women made by the minister recently during a media reaction, which later went viral.

“We demand immediate apology and ouster of the minister from the cabinet for saying that 30,000 women with 60,000 husbands. The statement has hurt the sentiments of the entire community,” party leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar said.

On the other hand, the minister had said that he never made any remark insulting women.
