Bhubaneswar: More than 10 COVID positive cases were reported from three places in the capital city which registered 258 new patients in the last 24 hours.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 45 of the new cases are from quarantine and 213 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, 11 cases were reported from Baramunda, Rasulgarh and Patia, followed by 9 cases each from Old Town and Jharpada and 8 each from Mancheswar, Nayapalli, Sundarpada and Unit VI.
In the last 24 hours, 158 more patients recovered from the disease in the city. The number of deceased due to COID has gone up to 1,009 with 2 more deaths during the period.
The active cases have gone up to 3215 while total 1,08,790 people have so far been infected during the first and second waves of the pandemic.
As many as 221 persons tested positive for the disease in the city on Wednesday, 226 on Tuesday, 172 on Monday, 143 on Sunday and 190 on Saturday, while the caseload was 243 on Friday and 234 on Thursday.
