Thane: Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation chief Vijay Suryavanshi said 109 out of 295 recent returnees from foreign countries to the township here were untraceable currently amid Omicron scare across the country.
According to him, the mobile phones of some of these people were switched off while several others furnished addresses that were found locked.
Suryavanshi categorically said returnees to KDMC limits from all “at risk” countries must undergo 7-day home quarantine, followed by a COVID-19 test on the next day.
“Even if it is negative, they will have to undergo another 7-day home quarantine and it would be the duty of housing society members to ensure the norm is not violated. Marriages, gatherings etc are being watched to curb violations,” Suryavanshi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
“Some 72 per cent of the people in KDMC have taken the first dose of the vaccine and 52 per cent are fully vaccinated,” the civic body chief added.
It may be recalled that one Omicron case was found in Dombivali recently.
