Cuttack: Over 100 metal idols of cobra were found at Mahanadi river ghat in Banki area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on the occasion of Maha Shivratri on Friday.
According to information, some children were taking bath in the river at Subarnapur ghat when they felt the presence of some metal objects on the riverbed. On verification, several idols of cobra were found under the water.
Locals carried out a thorough search and over 100 idols were recovered from the ghat with the help of fishermen. Some of the idols are believed to be ancient.
On being informed, officials of the local administration visited the site to examine the idols, while the villagers demanded that the idols be kept at the mutt in the area.
Efforts are on to ascertain the source of the idols, sources said.
