Bhubaneswar: More than 1000 people, who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha capital, are recuperating in home isolation.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 1,035 patients had opted for home isolation till Monday. While 608 among them have recovered, 427 still recuperating.
The Twitter post said asymptomatic patients and those with mild COVID-19 symptoms are being allowed home isolation for the prescribed period of minimum 10 days after obtaining their testing results.
The BMC further informed that COVID Care Centres (CCC) and COVID Health Centres (CHC) created by the state government and in association with the community and other social service organisations are primarily used to house those COVID-19 suspect/positive cases, who do not have required infrastructure for home isolation.
Patients, who are immuno-compromised, elderly and those with conditions like hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular problems, chronic lungs, liver, kidney and other vascular diseases, however, are also not eligible for home isolation.
The Odisha government has started providing Home Isolation Kit to persons living under this category and the kit contains medicine, Vitamin C tablets and oral rehydration salt (ORS) packets, it said.
The civic body said that patients and other caregivers can seek immediate medical assistance in case of difficulty in breathing, dip in oxygen saturation (when SpO2 is less than 95 per cent), persistent pain and pressure in the chest, mental confusion or inability to arouse, slurred speech or seizures, weakness or numbness in any limb or face and developing bluish discolouration of lips/face/fingertips.
If needed, patients are transferred to COVID-care facilities or dedicated COVID hospital in consultation with the call centre/BMC by an ambulance of the designated COVID-care facility, it added.
Bhubaneswar has so far reported 5,487 COVID-19 cases. With 27 deaths and 3,567, the city now has 1,887 active cases.
