Bhubaneswar: More than 14 lakh population of 3256 villages in 20 districts have been affected by the flood which has claimed 17 lives in the state so far.
According to an official release, the affected villages come under 896 panchayats in 112 blocks. As many as 2,65,723 population of 340 affected villages have been marooned.
Approximately 10,382 houses have been damaged by the floodwater across the state. While 107 roads in 11 districts were cut off, 32 breaches in river embankments in five districts have been reported so far. Around 1,68,905 hectare of crop land has been flooded.
For the rescue and rehabilitation operation, 14 NDRF, 17 ODRAF and 22 Fire Services teams have been deployed in the affected areas. Similarly, 254 boats have been pressed into service for the operation.
In order to provide food to the affected people, 357 free kitchens have been opened while 45 medical teams and 42 veterinary teams have been deployed to take care of the injured persons and animals, the release stated.
