Cuttack: Police seized over 1.3 kg of brown sugar and apprehended two persons in this connection in Odisha’s Cuttack town.
According to sources, a team of Special Task Force (STF), Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack District Police conducted a raid near Ansupa Lake after receiving a tip-off about the illegal dealings on Saturday.
During the raid, police caught the two persons, identified as Jumesh Kumar Sahoo and Hemant Kumar Pradhan, in possession of the contraband weighing 1335 gm, and apprehended them.
The officials also seized a Hyundai Santro car and other incriminating materials from their possession.
The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of the possession of such contraband materials, for which they were arrested.
A case has also been filed under section 21(c)/29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Notably, STF has seized more than 65 Kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gm of cocaine. more than 111 quintals of ganja/marijuana, and opium 750 gram, and have arrested more than 165 drug dealers/peddlers since 2020.
