Over 20 Passengers Injured As Bhubaneswar-Bound Bus Skids Off Road

Bhubaneswar: More than 20 passengers were reportedly injured in a road mishap in Odisha’s Khurda district on Sunday.

According to sources, a private bus carrying around 30 passengers was coming from Banki to Bhubaneswar in the morning. As the bus approached a village on Baghamari-Simor road, the driver lost control over steering and the the vehicle skidded off the road.

As the bus plunged into a pond, the passengers got trapped inside. Local people along with police and Fire personnel rescued the passengers. Around 20 passengers, who sustained injuries in the mishap, were rushed to district headquarters hospital at Khurda.

The police have filed a case and launched investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Eyewitnesses said fortunately the bus went inside the nearby pond for which the passengers escaped from serious injuries.
