Bhubaneswar: More than 2,000 schools in Odisha are running with one teacher imparting education to students of all classes.
This was revealed from the reply of School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash to a question of BJP MLA Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia in the Assembly on Wednesday.
The minister said there are total 30,377 primary schools, 19,238 upper primary schools, 2601 English medium schools and 10,017 high schools in the state.
Out of those, 2,107 schools have one teacher each. Those include 1,672 schools under the School and Mass Education Department have and the rest 435 are government-aided schools, Dash said.
He further said while Mayurbhanj district has maximum 171 schools with one teacher, Ganjam has 134 such schools.
