New Delhi: More than 40 Delhi schools received a bomb threat on Monday morning. According to reports, students were sent back home. DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar are among the 44 schools that received a threat, reported NDTV.
The threats were received via email sent around 11:38 on Sunday night. The email cautioned that that multiple bombs had been planted on the school premises. “The bombs are small and hidden very well,” the email read, as cited by NDTV.
The sender demanded $30,000 to defuse bombs. “It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate. You all deserve to suffer and lose limbs,” the sender reportedly wrote.
Cops have initiated a probe to find out the IP address and looking for the sender of the email.
The alert came to the forefront during the early morning busy school hours when students had started arriving. The Delhi Fire Department received the first call seeking for help from GD Goenka School at 6:15am. This was followed by another call from DPS RK Puram at 7:06 am.
The fire officials, including the dog squad, bomb detection teams, and local police reached the school. After conducting the search operation, nothing suspicious had been found, a police official said.
In October, an explosion outside a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Rohini’s Prashant Vihar damaged the school wall and nearby shops and vehicles.
The very next day other schools received an email threatening a bomb blast at all CRPF schools. After an investigation, it was found to be a hoax.
