Bhubaneswar: Kumbh Mela is making headlines for the wrong reasons with hundreds of devotees having tested positive for COVID-19. According to reports received from the Uttarakhand government, over 400 devotees from Odisha made the trip to Haridwar.
Among those who had registered for Kumbh Mela with the Uttarakhand government, there were over 400 members from 150 families of Odisha, of which 25 are from Ganjam, 20 from Nabarangpur, 20 from Puri, 10 from Khurda and 9 from Cuttack.
It may be recalled that the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area in March last year had emerged as a super-spreader with thousands from different parts of the country, including Odisha, testing COVID positive.
