Nuapada: More than 50 people, including a sarpanch, were hurt after being attacked by a swarm of bees at Dohelpada under Khadial block of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Tuesday.
The condition of four of them is stated to be critical.
Sources said, a large number of people from various parts of Nuapada and neighbouring Balangir district had thronged the weekly market at Dohelpada village. All of a sudden, a swarm of bees came out of a hive in the nearby tree in the noon.
The bees stung people present in the area, leaving over 50 hurt. Among the hurt is Jamkhunta sarpanch Uddhab Behera.
The injured people were admitted to different hospitals at Khadial, Bangomunda and Sindhekela and the condition of four was stated to be critical, sources said.
