Bhubaneswar: The capital city registered more than 50% spike in daily COVID caseload on Friday over Thursday figure as 638 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The city had reported 400 cases on Thursday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), of the day’s total cases, 584 patients are local contacts while 54 are from quarantine.
Of the local contact cases, a whopping 60 are from Patia which had reported 41 cases on Thursday, followed by 29 from Old Town, 21 from Patrapada, 20 from Nayapalli, 19 from Saheed Nagar and 15 from Niladri Vihar.
As many as 94 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours while the number of deaths due to the COVID was 1,103 with no casualty reported during the period.
The active cases stood at 1,887 while total 1,25,492 people have been infected by the virus so far.
