The incident reportedly took place in Baunshaput Upper Primary School under Narayanpatna Block. After eating food served in the school, several students complained of dizziness, nausea and vomiting. More students reported similar symptoms, prompting school authorities to inform the health authorities an

d call a medical team.

As per information, the students fell ill after allegedly consuming stale and unhygienic rice served at the school hostel. Some of them claimed they had noticed insects in the rice.

It was later alleged that a dead lizard had fallen and made the food toxic. Investigation into the incident is underway.

Notably, a similar incident had taken place recently when around 41 inmates of PM Shri School hostel in Siribeda fell sick after having their dinner. Around 35 of them were hospitalised after the students informed the hostel warden. They were later shifted to Borigumma Medical Centre for treatment.
