Over Rs 26 lakh Unaccounted Cash Seized In Pre-Poll Raids In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has seized more than Rs 26 lakh unaccounted cash on Friday in raids conducted at different places ahead of dual elections.

The flying squad of Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar seized Rs 2.05 lakh in cash from a person driving a car near Nandankanan and detained him. According to police, the cash was seized as car owner Manoj Kumar Agarwal could not produce any document in support of the cash carried by him.

Likewise, Rs 20 lakh was seized from a person in a car en route to Koida from Joda. The raid was conducted near Bhadrasahi village under Joda police station in Odisha’s Keonjhar. During police interrogation, the person said he had withdrawn the cash from his bank and was taking it home. Further probe is underway.

Another Rs 4.89 lakh was seized from a car near Sahipala check post on Nuapada-Bargarh border. Two persons have been detained for interrogation.
