Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday informed that the Centre has released over Rs 36 crore to Odisha during 2019-21 under centrally-sponsored schemes for tiger and elephant conservation.
For the tiger conservation projects, the Centre has released Rs 11.19 crore for Satkosia Sanctuary and Rs 15.68 crore for Similipal National Park while Rs 9.68 crore had been released for elephant conservation, he said.
Stating that Odisha for its rich biodiversity had witnessed a direct impact of these conservation efforts, Dharmendra said that the consistent efforts of the Modi government are to ensure that the tigers continue to roar in the jungle.
He further said efforts have been made to address the threat of poaching of both tigers and elephants to help these majestic species thrive in their natural habitats.
The Union Minister further said that the consistent efforts of the Centre towards environmental sustainability and conservation of wildlife have become a trailblazer for the revival of endangered animal species like tigers and elephants in the country.
