Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID Vaccine Could Be Rolled Out Within 6 Months: Report

London: As the world hopes for a coronavirus vaccine to be developed quickly, prayers of the entire humanity may be answered sooner than later.

Health regulators may give the green light for a vaccination programme to be rolled out in six months’ time or even less, according to a report in The Times.

The Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine candidate, which is in the final phase of clinical trials, could get the necessary clearance by Christmas. The London newspaper quoted UK government sources as saying that a full vaccine roll-out programme for adults could take six months or even less after approval is granted.

“We are looking at closer to six months and it is likely to be far shorter than that,” a government source said.

According to the report, scientists involved with the trial are optimistic of getting results before the end of 2020, and that they will show it prevents at least 50 per cent of infections.
