Bhubaneswar: A day after her name featured among Padma awardees for 2019, Kamala Pujahari was admitted to the Jeypore district headquarters hospital on Friday.
She is reportedly suffering from high blood pressure and might be shifted to SLN Medical College and Hospital in Koraput for further treatment if need be, said the medical sources.
Kamala will be conferred with Padma Shri for her contribution to the field of agriculture. A native of Patraputa village in Koraput district, she has helped preserve hundreds of local varieties of paddy. This tribal women also encouraged villagers to take up organic farming.
She received ‘Equator Initiative Award’ in South Africa in 2002.
