Dubai: Pakistan has blocked Tinder, Grindr, Tagged, Skout and SayHi dating apps for using “immoral content”. Extra-marital relationships and homosexuality are illegal in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority said that the apps were banned “keeping in view the negative effects of immoral/indecent content streaming.”
It has asked the five apps to remove “dating services” and moderate live streaming content following local laws.
Tinder has been reportedly downloaded more than 4.4 lakh times in the country in the last one year. Grindr, Tagged and SayHi have been downloaded about 3 lakh times and Skout has had 1 lakh downloads.
