Cuttack: While the arrest of Al Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) operative Abdul Rehman from the outskirts of Cuttack city in December 2015 had sent a shockwave in Odisha, activities of some operatives of Pakistan Islamic Forum in Cuttack and Sambalpur has now set the alarm bells ringing.
Reliable sources said that the members of the forum are collecting donations in Cuttack and Sambalpur to set up madrasas to foment violence and hatred among children of this community.
The Odisha Police, which had earlier received an intelligence report about some members of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) infiltrating the state, has begun an investigation into the presence of the Pakistan Islamic Forum.
According to former Odisha DGP Sanjeev Marik, outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Pakistan Islamic Forum or Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) are being monitored from Pakistan. Their objective is to spread communal hatred among the children against the non-Muslim communities.
