Islamabad: Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah made his first-class debut at the age of 15 and played his maiden Test match when he was just 16 years old.

From becoming the youngest fast bowler to capture five wickets in a Test innings to rocking Team India with a fiery burst in his T20I debut last August, Naseem is already a scourge of leading international batters.

Now, even the public will fear him.

Ten days away from turning 20, Naseem was on Saturday appointed Goodwill Ambassador of Balochistan Police. He was accorded the rank of DSP at a function at the IG Balochistan Police Office in Quetta.

“As a child, I had been scared of policemen. My parents would scare me by mentioning the police. However, as I have grown up, I have come to realise the sacrifices they make to keep us safe,” Naseem said.

“They don’t just put their lives at risk for us, but I have a far more simple example of their service.”

“Those appointed with us at the NCA stay awake at night to protect us. I cannot even function if I do not get a good night’s rest. I have immense respect for the police and am deeply grateful for their assistance,” he added.
