Srinagar: A Pakistani drone was shot down by Border Security Force (BSF) while flying near the international border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
A patrolling party of the BSF found it flying inside Indian territory in the Rathua area of Hiranagar sector in Kathua at around 5:10 am. They also recovered an M-4 US-made semi-automatic rifle with 60 rounds in it, two magazines and seven M67 grenades.
The 8 feet wide six copter drone, that was shot down fell in a field. It weighs around 17.5 kilograms and carried consignment weighing around five to six kilograms.
It had the name ‘Ali Bhai’ written on it. Officials are investigating whom the consignment of arms and ammunition was meant for.
Similar weapons were reportedly recovered from the Jaish-e-Mohammad militants killed in an encounter at Ban Toll plaza at Nagrota a few months back.
