Mumbai: Pakistani RJ Dr Ejaz Waris has apologised for his remarks about Katrina Kaif’s post-pregnancy weight gain, which sparked criticism online.
His apology came a day after Salman Khan addressed body-shaming and comments targeting women’s bodies.
Katrina Kaif recently attended the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations with her husband, Vicky Kaushal.
A video of the actress from the festivities later went viral, prompting RJ Waris to comment on her weight and make a derogatory remark.
In a new Instagram video, the Pakistani RJ said, “I am really sorry Katrina Kaif, agar aapka dil dukha hai, sorry everyone jiska dil toota. Main toh bahut casual andaaz mein bol diya tha without any body-shaming intention, lekin pata nahi kis flow mein maine woh baat keh di. Maine galat kiya. Sorry Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and viewers. Meri bilkul bhi neeyat aisi nahi thi, aur na hi maine body-shaming ki hai.”
“Maine bas ek hookline ke daur mein, shuru mein halka sa joke kiya,” he added.
Waris further said that he had realised his mistake and clarified that he did not intend to hurt anyone, but the remark came out in the flow of the conversation.
The RJ admitted that his comments had been weighing on him and said he regretted making them.
He also apologised to Katrina, referring to her as a “superstar of India” and “the world.”
Waris captioned the post, “SORRY KATRINA KAIF ❤️” and added, “From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologize to Katrina Kaif for my recent remarks. After Salman Khan mentioned yesterday on Bigg Boss, I reflected and realized that my words may have hurt Katrina and many of her fans. Body shaming was never my intention. I’m also sorry to Salman Khan and to everyone who felt offended. Sometimes words come out wrong, and I genuinely regret mine. @beingsalmankhan @katrinakaif”
