New Delhi: Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) orchestrated the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada to strain ties Indo-Canadian ties, India Today reported quoting sources.

The Pakistan spy agency had been pressuring him to support gangsters who arrived in Canada in the past two years. Nijjar, however, was mainly backing former Khalistani leaders.

ISI then hired criminals to kill Nijjar, sources informed.

After eliminating Nijjar, the ISI is reportedly on the hunt for a replacement and preparing to gather pro-Khalistan terrorists in Canada.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has alleged potential involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Nijjar on June 18 in British Columbia.

That resulted in a diplomatic row between the two countries, with the Indian government dismissing Canada’s claim as ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a strong message for Canada and the world while delivering his address at the 78th UN General Assembly session on Tuesday.

Urging UN member states not to allow “political convenience” to determine responses to terrorism, extremism and violence, Jaishankar took a dig at Trudeau and reminded everyone about India’s growing importance in the world order.

“We often advocate the promotion of a rules-based order. From time to time, respect for the UN Charter is also invoked. But for all the talk, it is still a few nations who shape the agenda and seek to define the norms. This cannot go on indefinitely. Nor will it go unchallenged,” the Union minister stated.
