Bhubaneswar: Noted Pala artist Narottama Mohapatra died on Friday afternoon at his residence at Kantabada village in Khurda. He was 90.
He was ill for the past few days. He had 60 years of experience in Pala recitation.
He was honoured with ‘Gayaka Ratna’ by Khallikote King Ramachandra Deo.
He was also awarded with Bani Ratna, Gayaka Samrat, Gayaka Gyanasagara and many others.
He was not taking remuneration for his performance.
Besides Odisha, he had also performed in Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
