The government has been directed to invite objections on the reservation guidelines till January 3, 2022, and resolve the objections by January 5. It would submit the final reservation list to the State Election Commission (SEC) on January 7 so that the notification for the panchayat elections is issued on January 8.
Earlier in the day, BJD’s organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das said they may go upto 50% quota for the backward classes. His statement comes a day after Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena said the BJD will give preference to OBCs during selection of candidates for panchayat polls.
