Balangir: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir on Wednesday convicted Okil Jued, the former executive officer of Chikalbahal gram panchayat in the district, in a case of misappropriation of government fund and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 2 years.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict and order him to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 3 months in default of payment of fine.
Jued, who is presently serving as executive officer, Jogisarada panchayat was accused of misappropriation of government fund amounting to Rs 1,84,509.
Rabi Narayan Patra, former Inspector, Vigilance Sambalpur division investigated the case and Jayakrishna Sahu, special public prosecutor, Vigilance, Balangir conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
