Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Saturday announced that repolling to panchayat posts will be held in 45 booths in the state on February 23.
The SEC, in a release, stated that voting process during the first two phases of elections to three-tier panchayati raj institutions was disrupted at several booths due to various reasons.
The polling at 25 booths was affected during the first phase of the election held on February 16. Similarly, voting in 20 booths was affected in the second phase held on February 18.
The repolling will be held at 4 booths in Bhadrak block and one at Banta of Bhadrak district, 4 in Gondia of Dhenkanal, 9 in Jajpur and two in Dharmasala of Jajpur and one each in Brahmagiri and Krushnaprasad blocks and threes in Kanas block of Puri district where voting was affected in the first phase.
Similarly, repolling will be held at one booth in Chandbali block of Bhadrak district, one in Boudh, one in Loisignha of Balangir, 3 in Jagatsinghpur, 10 in Dasarathpur of Jajpur, one in Telkoi of Keonjhar and one in Kaptipada and two in Suliapada blocks of Mayurbhanj district where voting was held in the second phase.
The SEC further said voters can exercise their franchise in these booths from 9 am to 3 pm on February 23. The polling will be held amid tight security, the Commission added.
