Bhubaneswar: Seven para athletes from Odisha will represent India at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, from October 22-28.
Odisha will have high hopes from para badminton star Pramod Bhagat, a gold-medallist at the Tokyo Paralympics. The other China-bound sportspersons from Odisha are Jayanti Behera, Pujaswini Nayak, V Ramesh Rao, Rakhal Kumar Sethi, Prafulla Khandayatray and Soundarya Pradhan.
Encouraged by the first-ever century-plus medal haul (107) at the recent Asian Games, India will be sending its biggest contingent to the Asian Para Games.
A total of 309 Indian para athletes — 196 men and 113 women — will be competing in Hangzhou, compared to 188 at the last edition of the Games, in Jakarta.
