Paradip Oil Refinery Workers Launch Indefinite Stir Over Pay Hike, Other Demands

Paradip: Scores of workers of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Paradip oil refinery unit on Wednesday launched an indefinite strike to press for their longstanding demands.
The agitators staged a mass demonstration and dharna under the banner of Paradip Ersama Industrial Workers’ Union in front of the refinery’s main gate seeking a minimum monthly wage of Rs 18,000, timely payment of wages, EPF and ESI benefits.
“We had put forth our demands before the authorities of the oil refinery several times
But, nothing has been done so far to heed our demands. Therefore, we decided to resort to agitational path to put pressure on the authorities to sort out our grievances”, an agitator said.
