Paralysed Man Survives Snake Coiled Around Arm; 7Ft King Cobra Found In Odisha School

Bhubaneswar: Two separate, spine-chilling encounters with highly venomous snakes have left people in Odisha’s Boudh and Angul districts in absolute shock.

In one miraculous survival story, a stroke patient remained frozen in bed for four hours with a snake coiled around his arm, while in another, a massive seven-foot king cobra was discovered inside a local school building, narrowly avoiding a major disaster.

Four Hours of Terror: Paralysed Elder Survived Coiled Snake

In Adenigarh village under the Harabhanga block of Boudh district, an elderly resident faced a terrifying ordeal that neighbours are calling nothing short of a miracle. Krushna Chandra Sahu, who suffers from severely limited mobility following a stroke, was asleep late at night when a venomous snake slithered into his room through an open window.

Sahu woke up to realise the reptile was crawling over his body. Because of his paralysis, he was unable to react or flee. As he made a slight attempt to shift, the situation escalated dramatically: the snake tightly coil

ed itself around one of his hands while anchoring the rest of its body to a nearby chair, effectively locking the helpless man in place.

Fearing that any sudden twitch would trigger a fatal strike, Sahu remained completely motionless for hours. When family members finally entered the room, they were horrified by what they saw. Recognising the extreme danger, they avoided a panicked rescue attempt and instead carefully monitored the reptile to keep it calm. After nearly four hours of intense tension, the family successfully managed to loosen the snake’s grip and free Sahu. Remarkably, he escaped without a single bite.

Classroom Scare: Seven-Foot King Cobra Rescued from School

Meanwhile, in the Angul district, a major safety threat to children was averted at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in Banamalipur, Thakurgarh. Early on Sunday morning, before the arrival of students and staff, a school peon noticed an unusually loud, intense hissing sound echoing from within the facility.

Following the noise through the corridors, the staff member found a massive, seven-foot-long king cobra cornered inside one of the classrooms. School administrators immediately secured the area and initiated safety protocols to protect the campus.

A trained snake rescuer was subsequently summoned, who successfully captured the protected reptile without causing injuries to anyone present. Following standard forest department guidelines, the king cobra was securely relocated and released back into a nearby dense forest habitat.

Wildlife experts noted that rising summer temperatures frequently drive these large reptiles out of their natural habitats into buildings in search of cooler shelter.
