Dhenkanal: A family of four died following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a dumper near Tolarpasi under Nihalprasad police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Monday.
Though identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, police said that a couple with their two children were on the bike and they belonged to nearby Khakira village. The accident took place while they were on their way to a friend’s house with their 11-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. While the man and his wife died on the spot, the children were rushed to the Community Health Centre at Barpada, but doctors later declared them dead.
The driver of the dumper managed to flee the spot soon after the accident leaving behind the vehicle, which police have seized and launched an investigation.
