Bhubaneswar: Car owners need no longer worry about paying exorbitant parking fee by the hour at shopping malls, hospitals, commercial buildings and housing projects because the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has said the practice is ‘not legal’.
“It has come to the notice of the BDA that shopping malls, multiplexes and apartments are imposing parking charges/fee. This is not consistent with the provisions of the BDA (P&BS) regulations as well as the approved building plan and the developers/owners are hereby directed to stop the illegal practice of charging parking fees from the visitors, immediately,” stated an order to this effect.
BDA also came down heavily on the misuse of approved parking space in some such establishments for other purposes. This is resulting in on-street parking and thereby adversely affecting the traffic movement on the public road.
All such property owners have been asked to abide by the order failing which the BDA will take strict action.
