Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted in booth nos. 10 and 11 in Gobardhanpur area of Sukinda in Jajpur district following clashes between workers of two political parties during the fourth phase of elections on Monday.
BJD and Congress worked engaged in violence following allegations of illegalities at the booth. BJD activists alleged that Congress supporters tried to prevent their agents from entering the booth, while the latter accused the former of trying to rig the polls.
In booth no. 247 of Bhogarai constituency in Balasore district, a BJP polling agent was allegedly thrashed. Likewise, BJD workers allegedly thrashed BJP workers at Sukarapada booth in Mahanga of Kendrapara district. Congress and BJD workers clashed in booth no. 86 of Bhadrak’s Basudevpur. A youth was detained in this regard.
Sources said, BJD and BJP workers clashed in booth no. 19 of Dhamnagar.
Poll-related violence was also reported from Kendrapara and Dharmashala.
