New Delhi: A man onboard a Mumbai to Delhi Air India flight was arrested for allegedly defecating, urinating, and spitting in the aircraft.
The repulsive incident took place on June 24 on Air India flight number AIC-866.
According to reports, Ram Singh from Uttarakhand, who works as a cook in Africa, was assigned seat number 17F. During the course of the flight, he defecated and urinated in the flight and spat on passenger in row 9 DEF.
The cabin crew secluded the man from others for his misconduct.
Taking cognisance of the situation, the captain of the flight, Arun Sansare, requested for security personnel to intervene. Upon landing at New Delhi, the person was arrested and a case was lodged against him under Sections 294 (obscene acts in public) and 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person) of the Indian Penal Code at IGI Airpot police Station, but he was subsequently granted bail.
“A passenger on our flight AI866 operating Mumbai-Delhi on June 24 behaved in a repulsive manner, causing discomfort to the co-passengers. In doing their best to manage the situation in the circumstances, the crew immediately secluded the passenger for the rest of the flight and issued a warning. The passenger was handed over to the security personnel upon landing in Delhi. A police complaint (FIR) was registered subsequently, as was the matter reported to the regulator. Air India follows a zero tolerance policy for such unruly and unacceptable behaviour. We are extending all cooperation to the ongoing investigations,” an Air India spokesperson said.
