Passenger Pays The Price For Excessive Farting!

New York: A passenger’s strange behaviour on an aeroplane was shared on social media recently.

A passenger on an American Airlines flight was so disgruntled that he farted, and was removed from the aircraft, the Independent reported.

A Reddit user, who was on the same flight from Phoenix (Arizona) to Austin (Texas) last week, stated he was sharing the episode as he felt it was ‘entertaining’, though he didn’t film it.

“I was on a direct American flight from Phoenix to Austin and I was seated near the row where this incident took place. I’m simply sharing this because it’s somewhat entertaining, and no I did not film anything,” wrote the user named u/Glamgalatx.

He observed the man was “audibly disgruntled about something” and started grumbling as soon as he took his designated seat.

“Several minutes pass and majority of people are seated but we still hadn’t left the gate. I overhear him say loudly ‘You thought that was rude? Well how about this smell’ and farted. Idk (I don’t know) what provoked that comment, and while (it was) kinda (kind of) funny to overhear, it was uncalled for especially coming from a grown man on an airplane nonetheless,” the user stated.

The upset passenger then screamed at others unpacking snacks and eating.

“It’s early evening and several people are having snacks or eating food. The man who just purposefully farted moments ago decides to loudly and condescendingly say ‘yeah, everybody let’s just eat the smelliest food possible all at the same time’. A guy in the next row replied, ‘If you don’t like it, you can fly private’ to which fartman says, ‘That’s so f****** rude’, while another person nearby chimes in, ‘I think we’d all agree you’re the rude one here’,” the user wrote on Reddit.

The aircraft, which was heading towards the runway for take-off, stopped and returned to the gate. “Apologies for the interruption, but we are returning to the gate. We will give you more info when we have it,” the flight crew announced.

The passenger was then informed by a flight attendant that he wouldn’t be staying on the flight. Confused why he was being taken off the aircraft, he was informed that the matter would be discussed after he disembarked.

“He gets up, grabs his bag, and quietly exits the plane. We all breathed a sigh of relief when he was removed; I think most people were on edge about what he may say or do next,” the Reddit user said.

The flight was delayed by no more than about 30 minutes.

There have been a varied range of reactions to the Reddit post, which has been widely shared on social media platforms.

“I think it’s going to be a while before fartman boards another flight, he’s now on a list,” remarked one user.

“He’s FARTING and calling people rude and low-class LOLOLL I’m dying. Thank you for this,” stated another person.

Among other responses were — “Farting is how gentleman quarrel. Everybody knows that”, “The delay sounds worth it just for the story alone”, “Fartman lol what a great name.”
