Rayagada: Train services was disrupted on Rayagada-Koraput section in Odisha after a tree fell on a passenger train near Singapur Road station on Wednesday.
Sources said Visakhapatnam-Koraput passenger was stranded near after a tree uprooted by nor’wester rain fell on it. Shortly after the train left Rayagada station in the afternoon, the loco pilot had to stop it as a tree uprooted due to nor’wester fell on the engine and some coaches. Electric over head cable was also snapped due to the incident.
A rescue team from Rayagada was sent to the spot to remove the tree. The movement of several trains have been affected on the route due to the incident.
Senior railways officials rushed to the spot and took steps to remove the uprooted tree.
Notably, the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express got stranded in Jajpur district of Odisha a few days ago when a tree uprooted by the nor’wester fell on the train.
