Rourkela: Frequent cancellation of Alliance Air flights on Rourkela-Bhubaneswar route appeared to have put a question mark on the future of air connectivity in Odisha.
Sources said air travellers are being put to enormous inconvenience because of erratic flight services between the steel city and state capital.
Claiming that the airlines frequently defaulted on flight operations citing technical glitch or repair work, several organisations in Rourkela have drawn the attention of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to the plight of passengers due to frequent flight cancellations.
They demanded measures to allow other airlines to operate on the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar route for the convenience of passengers.
As per information, the recent schedule of the airlines showed the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar flight services will be in effect on Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
As per the schedule, the operations will be cancelled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays till December 15, 2024.
The Kolkata-Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Rourkela-Kolkata flight services were reportedly stopped on October 9 due to technical glitch. Though repair work was carried out and the flight services resumed, this did not last long. The airlines halted the operations on the route from October 13 and said later that services will be normalised by November 30.
