Bhubaneswar: Two passengers were robbed of their mobile phones inside a Mo Bus in Odisha’s capital on Friday.
One of the passengers, who said he was travelling on a Mo Bus for the first time, alleged the involvement of bus staff, who he said did not stop the vehicle immediately, which allowed the thief to flee.
The other passenger whose mobile phone was stolen boarded the bus at Fire Station stop.
“Usually, I travel by my own vehicle. This was my first ride on a Mo Bus. Just when I boarded the bus at Jaydev Vihar bus stand, I heard somebody warn about mobile phone thieves. I immediately checked my pocket and found my phone missing,” he told local news channels.
He alleged that the bus driver and conductor did not stop the vehicle immediately because of which the thief was able to escape. “The driver did not listen to me even after I said that I want to check all the passengers inside the bus,” the youth said. Instead, the bus stopped at the Fortune Tower stoppage, he added.
“The doors were open and the person I suspected to be the culprit left through the back door,” he added.
On being informed, the Commissionerate Police asked the bus staff not to continue the journey till police arrived.
“I request the Commissionerate Police and CRUT authorities to install CCTVs at all bus stops for our safety,” the passenger said.
“We don’t know if CCTVs inside the bus were in working condition,” the other passenger told local channels.
