Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s daily COVID-19 caseload crossed the 2,000-mark on Friday with 2,703 fresh cases being reported in the last 24 hours. Of them, 409 are children.
COVID-19 cases have zoomed in Odisha over the past week, coinciding with a simultaneous rise in Omicron cases in the state and across the country. Odisha reported 1,897 cases on Thursday, 1,216 cases on Wednesday, 680 cases on Tuesday, 424 cases on Monday, 424 cases on Sunday, 298 cases on Saturday and 228 cases last Friday.
According to the I & PR department, 1,579 are from quarantine and 1,124 local contacts. Khurda reported the highest of 926 cases, followed by Sundargarh at 454, Cuttacj (191) and Sambalpur (179).

With these cases being detected from 68,970 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.91 per cent.
While Odisha now has 8237 active cases, the affected tally has touched 10,62,476.
